Cricut Fun

Whew..... I think I have been a little busy. I have not had a chance to post on here since DECEMBER. What have I been doing..... Well, we have been doing some remodeling and home improvements, which takes up about every waking hour..... But that is coming to a close and we are finished!! Love the results.
What else have I been doing? We have had some fun scrapbooking nights, a Cheaper by the Dozen workshop, and 2 cricut classes. Take a look at what we made at our last Cricut class. Memories come in all ways. When we were cleaning out my parents home this year we came across this photo that none of us kids had ever seen. It is a picture of my mom (the baby) and her two brothers. We also found the dress she is wearing in this picture. What a treasure!! Yep I took a picture of the dress and included it in the layout (on the other page) A baby dress that was at least 88 years old if it was my mothers to begin with, but it looked like it had belonged to many before that. It was all patched up and mended. A memory I will always treasure,

Today is Veterans Day. I have a special Veteran I like to remember on this day. This is a layout of my Dad's Army uniform and metals we found when we were cleaning out their home this year. What a neat thing to find. I took pictures of it all, and made a complete book about the life of my parents scanning in all the documents and old photo's. I made the entire book with Studio J Using this Studio Scrapbooking is so easy and so fast and fun!! Have you tried it?

I glued it shut and made it a pocket for an invite to a party. use this idea for gift cards, cash, or a thoughtful message on a tag slipped inside the pocket.

When I first got my New Close to my heart Art Philosophy cricut cartridge, I was excited to try to make a few cards. I had not used my cricut machine much.... so when I cut my first card, it was really small. I had cut out a white oval 'card' only way to small. As I went to toss it into the garbage I HAD A THOUGHT. Why not cut a black oval 'card' just a little smaller than the white one. I created this little Halloween card out of a mistake. I finished it off with letters cut out with the cartridge too. Whoo Hoo

Does it seem like time is Flying by to you? I just spent the weekend with our oldest Grandaughter as she turned 14. I was there the day she was born, which seems like just yesterday. Now she is just about as tall as her mom. I am so greatful for the art of Scrapbooking and preserving such precious memories throughout the years. What memories are you makin' and preserving today? This fun Studio J Layout was a fun one to do. I took my young teenage grandaughter out on our own little mini photo shoot. We had so much fun. It was great to be able to create this layout so quickly. Notice the heart made from buttons. Do you wonder how i got that almost perfect. Take a MY STICKEASE shape and put it on your page where you want you button outline. Add the buttons evenly all the way around. Then add the string to each button. When you are all done, delete the sticker. It goes away and leaves the button image. Voila..... how fun!!! Try it yourself. You will love it.

I attended a special event of a friend yesterday. It was a happy occassion. As I sat in the crowded room and watched the couple involved, I noticed they both had on khaki shirts. My thought was..... GREAT!!! they wore close that went together well. They will look GREAT in a scrapbook layout. I did tell them my thoughts as I congratulated them. They giggled and said, it wasnt even planned. I told them to get lots of pictures and be sure to scrapbook the day. Too funny. Have you ever done that???? Do you 'dress your kids' for the occassion with layouts in mind????

I have been tending our grandson this weekend. Ya know, when you are the grandma, and not the mom, you just seem to watch them and their curiosity and wonder a little closer than when you have all the 'mom' duties. They are so fun to watch. He just finds delight in everything!!! We watched our 16 month old the other day. So curious, so busy, so cute as they develope their personality. Techniques:

Using Text boxes to create your own B&T paper
Manipulating paper colors to change the look and feel of a kit
Putting the layout together:

Drop photos in wells
Drop argyle B&T into top left square (left page), changing color to Autumn Terracotta
Change color of top center square (left page) to Heavenly Blue
Change color of top right square (left page) to Grey Wool
Change color of dot B&T to Grey Wool
Add 1/16" Cocoa mats to all photos.

Finishing Touches:

Create word Puzzle on one small square by adding journaling areas in variously sized Inkling font with no back ground, Heavenly Blue and Colonial White text. Note: Use the scale font and copy/paste features to speed up this process. You may want to turn off snapping during this step. (Snapping is a feature that effects text. You can click it on or off)
Holding down the shift key, select all journaling areas of your word puzzle. Copy and past as a group into other squares as desired. Note: if you can't select all the journaling areas at once, select some of the journaling areas in one step, copy and paste them as a group, then select the remaining areas and copy and paste them as a group.
Colorize the toggle accents as desired. Buttons, button threads, flat ribbons, flat knots, and staples.
Using a mixture of text and My Stickease, create title as follows:
"my" in 40 pt Inkling font, no background, White Daisy text.
"BOY" in My Stickease at 100%, placing the letters individually
Type journaling in journaling well in scaled Inkling font, no background, Cocoa text, center-aligned both left-to-right and top-to-bottom.
Add four My Stickease starts (Small Accents) at 150%, 200%, 150%, 200%
Distress edges of base pages and all paper pieces with sponge in Cocoa adjusting intensity to 75%.

Techniques:

Layering My Stickease to create a single image
Journaling on photos
Creating unique titles by using multiple text boxes to mix fonts and sizes

SIDE NOTE: As you personalize your layout and make it your own, keep in mind that one of the main techniques is learning to cluster the 'My Stickease' If you change the paper colors too much, the My Stickease images won't work because they don't change color. I recommend that you keep the Pear and Goldrush colors somewhere in your layout. The Honey and Chocolate papers are changeable. As you can see on mine, I chose to change the papers and ribbon to Lilac mist and hollyhock to match my photos, and it still worked.

Putting the layout together:
Drop photos in wells.
Drop floral dot B&T into top horizontal strip. Change color to blush (my choice) (to change papers, click on papers and drag in desired paper)
Drop cardstock into left most vertical strip (left page). Change the color to (lilac mist).
Change B&T to (lilac mist) (my choice of color for my layout)
Change color of bracket-shaped cardstock piece to White Daisy
Change bottom of cardstock strip to (lilac mist)
Add 1/8" white daisy mats to each photo.
Delete title and journaling wells.
Finishing Touches:

**You will note from the color of the original packet of paper, I have changed my layout dramatically) You can leave yours the colors of the kit, or change them to match your photos.

Turn off toggle accents
Add the following My Stickease images to left page, rotating, cropping, and resizing as desired. Right click to bring layers forward or send backwards as needed.

rosebud flourish (Large Accents) at 60%
rosebud border (Borders) at 100%
Add the following My Stickease images to right page, rotating, cropping, and resizing as desired. Right click to bring layers forward or send backwards as needed.

rosebud border (Borders) at 100%
Small flowers to cover the HONEY flowers on the flourish if you changed your color scheme
Create title as follows:
"sugar" in 85 pt. Tickled font, no background, Chocolate text
"spice" in 85 pt. Tickled font, no background, Chocolate text
"and" in 35 pt. Memo font, no background, Chocolate text
Create journaling in scaled Tickled font, no background, Chocolate text, center-aligned. Add buttons and White Daisy thread as follows, rotating and resizing as desired:
left page: 5/8", 1/2"
right page: 5/8", 3/4"
Add (hollyhock) ribbons as follows, rotating, resizing, and cropping as desired:
left page: centered knotted ribbon at 100% and flat knot at 110%

Welcome Back from your long weekend. Did you make some memories? Are you ready to preserve those memories quick and easy. Here is todays challenge. Read the details, print them off, and go hop on to Studio J and see what you come up with!!

Beautiful You #1
Beautiful You Layout:
Photos: 1 vertical, 1 horizontal, 3 square
Kit: Sweetheart
Pattern: Imagine: Up the Tempo
Kit Mix #3

Techniques:
• Quick 30 minute layout
• Border using My Stickease Frame
• Changing paper intensity
• Using text block to add pattern paper
• Add classic embellishments

You will have a couple of options with this as you play with your layout. You can use the instructions as below and follow exactly, or you can change the color of your paper as I have done to match better with the color of the photos. For example, you could use Tulip in this layout to bring out the red hues. The choice is yours. Remember, when you click on the color pallet, the choice colors are across the top. These are recommended and will match the layout perfectly. These layouts might seem a bit complex, but I wanted to TEACH you some fun things. You can ALWAYS customize them, as you wish, and if you want an easier version, just leave the toggles as they are when you open up the page and color them. That makes a beautiful layout very easy!!

Putting the layout together
1. Drop photos in wells.
2. Change the color of polka dot B&T to Black, adjusting intensity to 30%.
3. Change Cotton Candy cardstock to Grey Wool.
4. Change journaling well on right page to White Daisy background. Note: even though the words “add journaling” appear onscreen, they will not print or be visible in the final JPG file. However, to make the message disappear permanently, simply type a single space.
5. Add 1/16” mat in White Daisy to all photos.
6. Delete three title wells on left page.

Finishing touches:
1. Turn off toggle accents.(just click to off)
2. Go over to the left hand side of the page. Click on MY STICKEASE,. Then choose FRAMES Add My Stickease swirl frame (Frames) at 100% behind photo mat and across page, cropping as desired to create a border. (to hide the sections of the frame you dont want shown on the page, just click on the entire frame, and then right click. Then choose the option 'send to back' All the parts you dont want seen will go behind the cardstock.
3. Add the following My Stickease images to right page, rotating, cropping, and resizing as desired.
a. Flower (Large Accents) at 125%
b. large flourish (Large Accents) at 70%
4. Create title as follows:
a. “YOUR CHOICE OF WORDS” in 172 pt. Fancy Folk font, no background, White Daisy text
b. “YOUR CHOICE OF WORDS” in 75 pt. Handmade font, no background, White Daisy font
6. Create word accents using multiple text areas in 40 pt., Handmade font, no background, Cotton Candy text, aligned to right.
8. attach , sparkles, and ribbon as desired.

What would my sales requirements be?

What if I don’t place $300 in a quarter or place none at all?

At that time, if you don't $300 in orders, you will drop to Jr Consultant status on October 1st. As a Junior Consultant your discount drops to 10% but you only need to have $100 in orders per quarter. If you do not have $100 in that quarter, you simply drop and are no longer a Consultant. But if you happen to have $300 as a Junior, you automatically jump back up to full status!

How long will I be a Consultant if I order the kit and then do nothing?
You will be active until September 30th. Then you will drop to Junior on October 1st . Then as of January 1st, you will no longer be considered a Consultant. But our new catalog comes out in August (July for Consultants) and I can tell you, because I have some inside information (wink, wink) that you will be VERY excited that you are a Consultant and are able to order the new products at a discount. So chances are you will not drop! LOL!

Do I need to give the Kit back if I drop?
Nope. Everything is yours to keep! No strings attached.

Are you required to maintain an inventory?
Nope. There are so many different products that CTMH actually suggests that you do not maintain an inventory. You can place an order for 1 item or 1000 items, so there is really no need to keep an inventory.

Does the company offer Hostess gifts? If so, who pays for them?

How did your layout turn out? Isnt it fun? Here is another idea of another layout I have created. I really want to have you get comfortable with Studio J and try out some different kits and patterns. Todays challenge is the same as yesterday..... Get on and Play!!! Create some fun layouts, explore the site and options, try new things and have some fun. Remember, each page pops up all embellished. You just have to color those embellishments. Try this for a few layouts. It turns out Fabulous. Then we will start adding some new items and creating your very own look.

It is a 3 day weekend. If you have plans, go take lots of photos and make some memories. If you are staying close to home.... make some layouts (remember it doesnt cost a thing until you purchase the layouts, so you can 'play' as much as you would like to!!) Check back on Tuesday for another challenge with another layout we will make together.

STUDIO J - BOOT CAMP Challenge #2

Now that you are all set up with a STUDIO J Membership.... click in to Studio J. Download 5-10 photos you want to scrapbook today. Once they have downloaded, choose a paper pack that you would like to use that will go well with your photos. Click continue, then choose a pattern that you would like to use to build your photo. If you are a "member" you have access to ALL of these patterns and kits of paper. Once this selection is chosen, click continue. It will build your 'choices' of layouts. Choose the 'look' you like!! Hit continue
Now you are ready to play. Start out by dragging your photos into each photo well. You can slide them to center them or put them where you would like, or enlarge them to get the areas of the photo you want to highlight. Color the toggle embelishments, add your title and journaling.

Pages can be as SIMPLE as this!!!

Generations of Memories

I just completed one of the most memorable albums I have ever created. My parents are both gone, and I decided to do a tribute album to to my parents. It has been so much fun to walk down memory lane as I have put pictures of my parents and grandparents, siblings and cousins.... in this fun book. From baby pictures to dog tags, from baby dresses to wedding rings, each old photo, or old certificate held a precious memory. I brought all the old memoribilia home, scanned it and created an album with all these generations of memories. I used Close to My Hearts exciting Online Scrapbooking program..... Studio J. It was so easy to take my scanned images, and create a beautiful memory. The fun thing about using Studio J..... I ordered 5 copies so now all my siblings get an album too!
